Alan B. Patricio

President, Housing Resource Center, Inc. and ABP Associates, Inc.

Alan Patricio has over 30 years of experience helping develop housing and services for the elderly and persons with disabilities, operating as a private consultant heading his own firm, ABP Associates, Inc.

His specialties are the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development’s Section 202 – Supportive Housing for the Elderly and Section 811 – Supportive Housing for Persons with Disabilities programs. He shows clients how these programs can best be utilized to meet the housing needs of local communities.

Alan has provided technical assistance to nonprofit sponsors using both Section 202 and 811 programs to meet the housing needs of their constituents in communities throughout the Southeastern United States. His involvement has resulted in the creation of 5,172 units of housing valued at $324,395,797.

Susan C. McDonald

Vice President, Housing Resource Center

Susan McDonald is a shareholder in Rogers, Towers, Bailey, Jones & Gay, P.A., where she practices environmental and land use law with emphasis in the areas of developments of regional impact, Florida quality developments zoning, land use matters, and comprehensive planning and concurrency issues. Financing of HUD-related and affordable housing developments by tax credits, bond financing, and other federal programs is her specialty.

Dr. Gary Edwards

Secretary/Treasurer of Housing Resource Cener; Executive Director of United Cerebral Palsy of Greater Birmingham

Dr. Edwards has worked throughout his career with an emphasis on quality housing for those he serves. Dr. Edwards’ mission at UCP provides a wide range of services including preschool for children with and without disabilities, early intervention services, adult day rehabilitation, supported employment, case management, and Social Security Benefits management. In 2008, Dr. Edwards received The 2008 Children’s Advocate Award from Child Care Resources.

Dr. Anne M. Schmidt, M.D.

Board Member, Housing Resource Center

Dr. Anne Schmidt is currently a clinical documentation improvement coach at St. Vincent’s Hospital, Birmingham, Alabama, where she has worked since September of 2014. Dr. Schmidt is a career physician in behavioral and family medicine, and is the former medical director of United Cerebral Palsy of Greater Birmingham.

John Franklin Saddler

Board Member, Housing Resource Center.
Insurance agency owner and chairman of the economic development ministry at New Hope Baptist Church, Birmingham Alabama.

Mr. Saddler has spent 43 years in the insurance industry and is a Fellow of the Life Underwriters Training Council. He is currently an owner of insurance agencies in Homewood, Leeds, and Irondale, Alabama. In 1994, John was asked to become the chairman of the economic development ministry at New Hope Baptist Church, Birmingham, Alabama. From there, he became a developer to strengthen and build up his community. In 2005 he was awarded a grant of$4.25 million to build 62 senior citizen apartment units. He was then awarded a 5-year grant of $3 million to develop and oversee a program of teaching abstinence in Birmingham schools.
